April/May Update | Life in iso, blog change, reading update

April/May update

It’s been a heck of a few months, and I’m sure I’m not the only person to say that. Between COVID-19 lockdowns and all the changes associated with that, I’ve been pretty fortunate and I’ve been doing okay. I’m generally someone who tries to focus on what’s in my direct control, and I don’t let my mind wander too far beyond that if I can help it. I can’t control what will happen to the world, nor how long lockdowns will last, I can only control what’s in my direct path. So I’ve been just staying home and keeping myself occupied here. Gardening, reading and some cross-stitching alongside study and work has kept me well enough.

The first thing you might notice is that the blog has undergone some big changes! Cee’s Thinking Space has had a complete rebranding into Chantel Speaks (it’s still under construction, but the site is workable enough for now). The main reasons I chose to change was that I started Cee’s Thinking Space without any real experience in blogging, and I basically just launched in without much plan as to what I would be writing. I developed that sense as I wrote on Cee’s Thinking Space throughout last year, and after a while, I realised Cee’s Thinking Space didn’t really represent what I was writing about. Chantel Speaks is really a direct connection with my thoughts and opinions on books and life more broadly, and I think this will be a better fit. Nothing much has really changed though, this blog will still predominately be book reviews with occasional articles about other topics. I would like to also delve into some product reviews about disability-related products in the future, so if disability assistive tech is your bag, keep an eye out for that!

Reading has been taking up some of my time in isolation. I’ve been working on getting a few more books read from Netgalley from earlier this year, as well as finishing off a few slow burn reads from last year. One of these is Say Hello by Carly Findlay that I finished just last night, the review to that will be posted in the next few weeks.

So all has been fairly well here, and I’m glad that the blog has a new home, I look forward to settling into Chantel Speaks and seeing where the rest of the year takes me!
