Time passes pretty quickly, and I feel like the past 2 months have been especially fast! (see my previous April/May update post to catch up)
I’d have thought living in lockdown would make time go slower, but if anything I’m busier than ever. The thing I’ve really felt is that there’s no clear break between work and spare time when you’re using the same workspace for both. Since March everything I do in life has just melded into one big task, which is both interesting to me as a social scientist, but exhausting as a human needing to go through the motions.
Aside from that, I’ve been enjoying the new blog that I have and I’ve been steadily working on content. I have a lot of articles I’m working on that will eventually come out as I’m ready. I’ve come to realise I’m not the type of blogger that pressures myself to keep to deadlines and a tight post schedule. For me, this is more an interest and hobby, and I like giving myself the space to work on it when I can without sacrificing my wellbeing to get things done. The articles will get there when they get there.
As for things I’m working on, I have a few articles about some disability issues lined up, as well as some on the art of reading and reviewing itself. One of the interesting things about writing book reviews is the actual practice of it. How do I judge a book- and should I even judge one? Just because I loved/hated a particular book, does that make it bad?
I’m still slogging through a few reads. Right now, I’m reading Please Don’t Hug Me by Kay Kerr for an online book club and hope to be finished that very soon.
